WhatsApp now allow users to save chats to Google Drive

WhatsApp will now allow users to back up their chats to Google Drive directly. Users will however need the latest build of WhatsApp for this, which is version 2.12.45. This is not yet available on the official WhatsApp site or Google Play Store. You can download the build from APK Mirror by clicking here.

In order to save the build, once you update the app, you can then go to settings, then chat settings and chat backup. There will you see the Google Drive option and once you switch on Chat backup, the option to save to Google Drive should be available.

The Google Drive addition is the latest in a long list of changes that WhatsApp has seen over the past couple of weeks.
WhatsApp’s Android app has undergone a complete makeover and now sports a Material Design look in sync with Android Lollipop. The new design integrates calls, chats and contacts tabs along with search, message and option in green colour. WhatsApp for Android now also allows users to make calls.
More importantly, WhatsApp CEO and co-founder Jan Koum announced that the app has reached 800 million monthly actives.
Koum wrote on Facebook, “WhatsApp – now serving 800,000,000 monthly active users. Reminder for the press out there: active and registered users are not the same thing.”
As we had noted, this is a big milestone for WhatsApp, since the company had announced in January that it had the 700 million monthly active users. That means in a span of over 4 months, they’ve managed to add another 100 million monthly active users.
