The company Chairman, while announcing the 4G service last November, had said that his fibre to home service will aim to push the power of data even further. He said that the service provided by his company will be at par with the most advanced wireline offerings anywhere in the world and will offer data speeds up to 1 GBPS.

Also, the company is planning to spread its services in other 100 cities in coming months.

But that’s not all, Jio is apparently planning to enter the affordable 4G smartphone too.

As per a report published in Digit today, the Mukesh Ambani-led company aims to introduce entry-level 4G smartphones in the country too. Jio is planning to target first-time internet users now and since most of the affordable smartphones in the country don’t offer VoLTE, Jio is planning to do the job on its own. An Economic Times report claim that the company may launch these phones in the first quarter of 2017 itself.

“It will be a challenging time for the smartphone market, which could see flat growth in 2017,” said Faizal Kawoosa, principal analyst at Cybermedia Research.
